The 2019 Title X National Grantee Meeting is scheduled to occur Tuesday, July 16 through Friday July 19, 2019.  The meeting will run from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Tuesday, July 16th  (Orientation for New Title X Grantee Personnel); from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on Wednesday and Thursday, July 17th & 18th; and from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, July 19th.

The meeting is sponsored by the Office of Population Affairs (OPA) in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH) within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Meeting Purpose and Goals

The 2019 Title X National Grantee Meeting will provide Title X grantees with important programmatic and policy updates, information on family planning utilization trends, and opportunities to gain vital information on how to improve family planning services.

The goals are of the meeting are to:

  • Improve the capacity of Title X grantees;
  • Support grantee efforts to meet Title X requirements and monitor and assess their sub-recipients;
  • Share evidence-based recommendations, practices, and guidance on the delivery of family planning, reproductive and related preventive health care.


Who Should Attend

This meeting is intended for Title X project directors or administrators, as well as other staff from the grantee organization with fiscal and/or administrative decision-making authority. Participants will include representatives from all Title X-funded grantees – including services, training, and research projects. Each grantee is encouraged to send up to three individuals to the meeting.


Call for Poster Presentations

Title X grantees are invited to submit an abstract describing their Title X project, any component of their project, or another initiative they have been working on to improve the delivery of Title X family planning services to their communities. OPA is interested to hear and see what innovative approaches you are using to increase access. We encourage any and all topics, and are especially interested in how you are addressing the following areas:

  • Integration of substance use screening and treatment and family planning
  • Activities around incorporating PrEP in Title X sites – full integration or by referral
  • Outreach and services to areas with decreased access to FP and primary care services
  • Experience with using telemedicine

Participants are encouraged to use this opportunity to share lessons learned and promising practices identified from implementation of their Title X program, including lessons or promising practices related to the 2019 Title X Program Priorities and key issues.

A block of time will be designated during the meeting – evening of Wednesday, 17 July, 2019 for the poster session. We are going to try and have the posters stay up for the next day as well. for viewing during the entire day.

Posters will be mounted on display boards and should be no larger than 4’ x 3’. Push pins will be provided. Participants are responsible for setting up their posters and taking them down.

In order to assist us with planning the poster session, please submit an email with your intent to present a poster, along with a brief abstract, by June 24, 2019.


Getting to the Hotel

Area Airports

  • Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA): 0.9 miles from the hotel. The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle from 5 am to 11 pm (Monday thru Sunday). The approximate one-way taxi fare is $10 and $15 for Super Shuttle. Also, assessable by Metrorail with just one stop from the airport (the nearest station is the Crystal City Station located approximately 0.8 miles from the hotel).
  • Dulles International Airport (IAD): 28 miles, approximately 45 to 60 minutes (depending on traffic). Closer to 60 minutes in rush hour traffic. The approximate one-way taxi fare is $50-55 and $30 for Super Shuttle.
  • Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI): 38 miles, approximately 60 minutes. The approximate one-way taxi fare is $75-80 and $42 for Super Shuttle.



Union Station

Union Station is metro accessible via the red line. You will need to transfer at Gallery Place to the yellow line.



Metrorail is an option, including those flying in and out of Reagan National (DCA). The Crystal City Metro Station on the Blue and Yellow Line is the closest Metro Station to the hotel. The hotel is located approximately 0.8 miles from the Crystal City Metro. The estimated walking time is 17-18 minutes. Complete Metrorail information is available.

Self-Parking is available for attendees at a daily rate. Valet parking is offered at a daily rate for overnight guests.


The room block at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View for the night of July 15th is full.  Participants who are planning to attend the New Title X Grantee Personnel Orientation session on Tuesday, July 16, can make room reservations online at our overflow hotel, the Residence Inn Arlington Capital View.  The cut-off date for this room block is June 17, 2019.

The hotel is holding a block of rooms for the meeting until 5 p.m. (EDT), Monday, June 24, 2019 based on availability. After this date, room availability and the special conference/per diem rate will not be offered. Please note that you should make your reservations as early as possible since rooms may go quickly and earlier than the hotel cut-off date.

Check-in is at 3 p.m., and checkout is at Noon. An early checkout fee of will apply if guest checks out earlier than scheduled. If you need to cancel your reservation, you must do so no later than 72 hours prior to the night of your arrival to avoid paying a penalty.
